The story…from the creators:
When we started planning this project, we aimed to create a sustainable touristic unit. We were mainly focused on promoting the rural heritage of the Thessaly region, respecting the environment, by adaptingthe development with the elements of nature.
After careful thought and research, we decided to invest our ideas in the village of Skiti AGIAS, where SKITI VILLAS is built today.
We spent four years designing and constructing this project. It has been an intense but also productive period for us and the entire architectural team.
With the vision of sustainable tourism, we tried to adapt to environmentally friendly building materials and elements of high aesthetics.
It’s a building complex with minimalist architecture that emphasizes on gentle lighting, little furniture, and strong simple lines.
SKITI VILLAS was developed with facilities that can accommodate demanding guests coming from the domestic region as well as international tourists. Visitors who want to enjoy complete services, spend time with their loved ones, swim in crystal clear waters, relax in the tranquility of the mountain, and try local and traditional flavors.
The building complex we created has a house environment, with hospitality as a benchmark and with the ambition to attract visitors, who seek beauty through simplicity.
We were committed to creating conditions for sustainable operation and energy efficiency with materials compatible with the environment and with all the up-to-date energy-saving construction methods and water resource management infrastructures.
The Location
Skiti is built on the slopes of the mountain Mavrovouni, at an altitude of 350 m. and a small distance of 48 km from Larissa city, the capital of Thessaly region. Its permanent population is four hundred people which pictures a small agricultural community. The main income of the inhabitants is the cultivation of chestnuts, the most famous product for which the area is known, as well as delicious fruits like apples and pears, and of course olives. Other income activities for the small community are animal husbandry, fishing, and tourism
Close to the village, at a distance of 3 km, Close to the village, at a distance of 3 km, there is the “Bourbulithra” water spring, in a beautiful natural environment with diverse vegetation with plane trees. Above this area lay the ruins of the walls of ancient “Melivoia”, which is mentioned by Homer. The forest of the Mavrovouni mountain is inhabited by many species of animals and trees and has been included in the European Network NATURA 2000. Other points with a wide view are the “Castle” at a distance of 2 km from the village and the location “Simaia” with a panoramic view.
In the area, there is also one of the monasteries from locally known as the “mountains of the Cells”, Saint Anargyri, with its two hermitages. Furthermore, It is worth visiting Panagia Polydendriou, located inside the oak forest, with the huge oak tree lying near the church. Also close to the village, there is an artificial lake, surrounded by hills with chestnut forests and The name of the village refers to a place where, in the past, many small monasteries were located for monks to cloister themselves and meditate. According to archeological researchers,this place was the site of ancient Melivoia near Polydendrii Skiti. Towards the Northwest of the village, ruins of a castle were found, which are probably identified with the Byzantine “Centauropolis”.walnut trees.

Kαι εκεί που όλα κινούνταν με βάση την παράδοση ή καλύτερα ήταν ακίνητα, προσγειώθηκε στην Σκήτη και μας ξάφνιασε Η ΠΡΟΤΑΣΗ.
Δεν ακολούθησε την πεπατημένη αλλά δεν προκάλεσε. Ήρθε να δώσει ένα μήνυμα.

«Όταν αρχίσαμε να σχεδιάζουμε το έργο για την δημιουργία μιας ήπιας ξενοδοχειακής μονάδας, θέλαμε κυρίως να ζωντανέψουμε και να τονίσουμε τα στοιχεία της περιοχής της Θεσσαλίας, να σεβαστούμε το περιβάλλον και να εναρμονίσουμε την ανάπτυξη με τα στοιχεία της φύσης.
Ψάξαμε αρκετά και εστιάσαμε στο χωριό ΣΚΗΤΗ ΑΓΙΑΣ, σημείο που σήμερα βρίσκεται το SKITI VILLAS.
Τα τέσσερα χρόνια που χρειάστηκαν για το σχεδιασμό και την κατασκευή ήταν για εμάς και για όλη την αρχιτεκτονική ομάδα μια έντονη παραγωγική περίοδος.
Με το όραμα της δημιουργίας προσπαθήσαμε να εναρμονίσουμε το περιβάλλον με τα υλικά δόμησης και τα στοιχεία της υψηλής αισθητικής.
Οι επιλογές των υλικών, ο τρόπος κατασκευής, είχαν μια κατεύθυνση: την δημιουργία ενός συγκροτήματος με απλές γραμμές αρχιτεκτονικής εικόνας που εντάσσουν τα κτίσματα στον περιβάλλοντα χώρο.
Το SKITI VILLAS αναπτύχθηκε με όραμα να φιλοξενεί απαιτητικούς επισκέπτες από την εγχώρια και παγκόσμια αγορά. Επισκέπτες που θέλουν να απολαύσουν ολοκληρωμένες υπηρεσίες, να περάσουν χρόνο με τους αγαπημένους τους, να κολυμπήσουν σε πεντακάθαρα νερά ,να χαλαρώσουν στην ηρεμία του βουνού, να δοκιμάσουν τοπικές και παραδοσιακές γεύσεις
Πιστεύουμε ότι δημιουργήσαμε ένα συγκρότημα σχεδιασμένο με αρμονικό τρόπο που συνδυάζει τα στοιχεία της φύσης με την αρχιτεκτονική, ένα συγκρότημα με την φιλοξενία να αποτελεί σημείο αναφοράς και με την φιλοδοξία να προσελκύει επισκέπτες, που αναζητούν την ομορφιά μέσα από την απλότητα.
Η παραπάνω προσπάθεια συνοδεύτηκε και με μια επιπρόσθετη ευθύνη να δημιουργήσουμε συνθήκες ομαλής λειτουργίας με υλικά συμβατά στο περιβάλλον και με όλες τις σύγχρονες υποδομές εξοικονόμησης ενέργειας και διαχείρισης των υδάτινων πόρων.»
Η Περιοχή:
Το όνομα του χωριού παραπέμπει σε χώρο, όπου κατά το παρελθόν θα ασκήτευαν μοναχοί. Οι ερευνητές τοποθετούν τη θέση της αρχαίας Μελιβοίας κοντά στο Πολυδένδρι ή τη Σκήτη. Στα ΒΔ. της Σκήτης εντοπίστηκαν ερείπια κάστρου, που πιθανότατα ταυτίζονται με τη βυζαντινή «Κενταυρόπολη».
Η Σκήτη είναι χτισμένη στις πλαγιές του Μαυροβουνίου σε ύψομετρο 350 μ. και απέχει από τη Λάρισα 48 χλμ. Ο μόνιμος πληθυσμός της ανέρχεται στα 400 άτομα ενώ το καλοκαίρι ξεπερνά τους 1000. Κύριο εισόδημα των κατοίκων είναι η καλλιέργεια ελιάς, καστανιάς, μήλων και αχλαδιών, η κτηνοτροφία, η αλιεία και ο τουρισμός (ενοικιαζόμενα δωμάτια, ξενοδοχείο και κατασκηνωτικό κέντρο).
Κοντά στο χωριό σε απόσταση 3 χλμ. συναντάμε την πηγή «Μπουρμπουλήθρα», μέσα σε πλούσια βλάστηση με πλατάνια και νότια της εντοπίζονται τα ερείπια τειχών της αρχαίας Μελιβοίας γνωστής και από τον Φιλοκτήτη στον οποίο αναφέρεται ο Όμηρος. Το δάσος του Μαυροβουνίου όπου κυριαρχούν πολλών ειδών δέντρα και ζώα, έχει ενταχθεί στο Ευρωπαϊκό Δίκτυο NATURA 2000. Άλλα σημεία με άπλετη θέα είναι το «Κάστρο» σε απόσταση 2 χλμ. από το χωριό και η τοποθεσία «Σημαία».
Στην περιοχή βρίσκεται και ένα από τα μοναστήρια του «όρους των Κελλίων», οι Αγ. Ανάργυροι, με τα δύο ασκηταριά τους. Αξίζει να επισκεφτεί κάποιος την Παναγία Πολυδενδρίου, μέσα στο δάσος με την πελώρια βελανιδιά δίπλα στο ναό. Επίσης κοντά στο χωριό, βρίσκεται η λίμνη της Σκήτης περιτυλιγμένη από τους λόφους με καστανιές και καρυδιές, στην οποία διοργανώνονται δραστηριότητες Canoe.
